How much does it cost to paint a house?

The cost of painting a home depends on several factors, including the size of the property, the condition of the existing surfaces, the amount of preparation required and the type of paint being used. Every home is different, which is why we provide a detailed quote tailored to your project rather than relying on square metre rates or rough estimates.

How long does a painting project take?

Every project is different, but most residential painting projects take anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks. The timeframe depends on the size of the job, the amount of preparation required, weather conditions for exterior work and drying times between coats. Before we begin, we'll provide a clear schedule so you know what to expect.

How should I prepare my home before the painters arrive?

Before work begins, we recommend removing small valuables, fragile items and personal belongings from the areas being painted where possible. Furniture can usually be moved to the centre of the room and protected with drop sheets. We'll discuss any specific preparation with you before the project starts, so you know exactly what's required.

How do I choose the right painter?

Choosing a painter isn't just about comparing prices. Look for someone who is licensed and insured, has experience, positive reviews and provides a clear, detailed quotation. When comparing quotes, always compare like for like. A cheaper quote may not include the same preparation, products or scope of work.

You'll also be inviting that person into your home, sometimes for several days, so it's important to choose someone you genuinely feel comfortable with. You should feel listened to, respected and confident that they understand what you're trying to achieve.

We always joke that if your dog gives them the tick of approval, you're probably on the right track. Dogs are often a pretty good judge of character.
